5 Tried-And-Tested Tips To Make Perfect Green Keema At Home
Many keema lovers have their favourite versions and dishes they crave again and again. Some may like a classic preparation to eat with bread, while others may prefer keema snacks. At my home, one of the most beloved keema recipes is a dry and spiced green keema. Inspired by Bombay-style flavours, this dish never disappoints - when made right. To that end, we have listed down some key tips to keep in mind while attempting this keema recipe. You can also access more details through a link at the end. Check them out below:
Here Are 5 Key Tips To Make Delicious Hara Keema At Home:1. Boil the green peas with the minceMany keema recipes include green peas. If cooked well, the texture of each complements the other to elevate the overall taste. We recommend cooking them together for enhanced flavour. Boil the green peas along with the keema when you begin to follow this recipe. If you add green peas at a later stage, they may remain raw to a certain extent. This will also affect the mouthfeel of the dish.
2. Cook the keema on low flame and half covered with a lidThe keema needs to be cooked through properly. If you keep the flame on high, you may overcook it. We suggest half covering the vessel in which you are boiling the keema with a lid. If you keep it fully open, the flavour may escape. If you cover it completely, the water can rise and spill. Ensure you stir the keema 2-3 times in between and cook till the water has evaporated. Later, allow it to dry - excess moisture should not be present.
3. Opt for oil - not ghee or any other fatsOil is the best option for this green keema recipe. Ghee may alter the taste and consistency of the dish in unwanted ways. Oil can help keep it balanced. Remember that general mince contains some fat, which will anyway get added to the dish.
4. Add fresh mint and coriander leaves towards the endMint and coriander leaves add lovely flavour and colour to your keema. It is important that you use the freshest possible leaves. Moreover, take care to add them towards the end of your cooking to make the most of them. Adding them too early may hamper their look, texture and flavour.
5. Use this green keema in different waysThis dry green keema is the definition of versatility. You can scoop it up with rotis or pav. You can also use it as a key ingredient for a variety of other dishes, including samosa, baida roti, pulao, etc. (Read more here). You can also transform it into a more gravy-like preparation with a unique hack. Simply mix around 1/2 cup of this dry keema with 1 cup water and 1 tbsp of green chutney (the kind typically made with coriander and/or mint leaves). Cook for 5 minutes and your keema gravy is ready! You can top it with a boiled egg if you like.

One Instagram user said, People who are saying packet kyu nahi padha need to understand that pheta hua tel kisi ko nahi khaana chahiye [People are saying Why didn t you read the packet? Need to understand: No one should eat whipped oil]. The onus has got to be on brands to not trick their customers, not on customers to take extra precautions to not get tricked.
NDTV reached out to Kwality Wall s for comments. Company spokeperson said, All our food products in India are formulated in accordance with the Food Safety and Standards Regulations and adhere to specific storage norms based on their structure. These storage conditions are mentioned on every pack for consumers easy reference. Ice creams and frozen desserts have a complex structure comprising ice, air, and fat, which is maintained by keeping them at sub-zero temperatures. If left at room temperature for extended periods, these products not only melt but also curdle, separating into milk solids and liquids that may appear as yellowish watery residue. This yellowish liquid is mostly water with dissolved ingredients, sugar, protein, fat etc. and should not be mistaken to be palm oil. This is similar to how milk curdles and separates into solids and liquids if not stored properly.

Chia seeds are tiny but mighty. They are packed with nutrients, including omega-3 fatty acids, fibre, protein, and antioxidants. While chia seeds don t contain the same type of omega-3s found in fish (DHA and EPA), they do provide alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), which the body can convert into DHA and EPA, though the conversion efficiency can vary.
2. FlaxseedsFlaxseeds are another excellent source of ALA, the plant-based omega-3 fatty acid. They are also rich in fibre and lignans, which have antioxidant properties. To get the most out of flaxseeds, grind them before consuming as the whole seeds can pass through the digestive system undigested.

Trending: An Upside-Down Pineapple Is Helping People Find Love In Spanish Supermarkets
Many single Spaniards are tired of looking for love on dating apps and are seeking some old-school ways of finding love. One such ongoing viral trend in Spain involves using a pineapple. Thanks to social media, this simple pineapple has grown to become a sign that says you are single and looking for a relationship. How? Enter the popular Spanish supermarket chain - Mercadona - between 7 pm and 8 pm, take a shopping cart, place a pineapple upside down in your cart and head to the wine section.
According to the Spain-based news website Olive Press, people are encouraged to go to the wine aisle to find others with a pineapple in the same position. If they like someone, they bump their trolley against theirs, indicating they are interested in chatting to them. If the feeling is mutual, they can bump back or start talking. Many people posted their attempts on social meadia.
What s more, watching out for other items in someone s shopping cart can offer clues about their intentions. For example, if someone spots chocolates or sweets, it means the other person is looking for long-term relationships or something more serious. But a legume or lettuce means they are looking for something more casual.

The trend was born from TikTok spontaneously and was not a part of the supermarket s marketing strategy, reported BBC. The viral trend has led to some chaotic scenes. In the city of Bilbao, police were called to a branch of Mercadona during the 7 pm and 8 pm time slot after a flash mob of hopeful singles packed the store and overwhelmed it, reported Sky News. The crowd dispersed when officers arrived and no one was arrested. The pineapple dating trend has also been taxing for the store employees who are left to clear up the unpurchased goods.

PCOS Awareness Month: Why Intermittent Fasting May Not Help You Lose Weight If You ve PCOS
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a common problem faced by people who menstruate. In this hormonal disorder, small cysts are formed on the outer edges of the ovaries, causing them to enlarge. One of the most common and dreaded outcomes of this is weight gain, which seems impossible to get rid of. To tackle this, we try all sorts of methods and dieting patterns, intermittent fasting being a popular choice. During intermittent fasting, we fast for at least 12-16 hours before eating again. But is this really a helpful choice for managing weight during PCOS? If you have the same question in mind, then you have landed on the right page. Let s see how intermittent fasting affects your body and whether or not it s a healthy choice to tackle it.
Also Read: 5 Ways Spearmint Tea Can Help Manage Your PCOS Battle
How Is Weight Gain Related To PCOS?In PCOS, our bodies become less responsive to insulin which leads to a risk of developing insulin resistance. This causes the pancreas – the organ responsible for producing this hormone – to release extra insulin to compensate. When your body produces extra insulin, it can contribute to increased weight by increasing your appetite, fat accumulation, and reduced breakdown of the stored fat.
What Is Intermittent Fasting And Can It Help You Lose Weight On PCOS?For the unversed, intermittent fasting is a type of fasting that focuses more on when you eat than what you eat. As per the official website of Johns Hopkins Medicine, you only intermittently at during a specific time. As mentioned above, gaining weight on PCOS is pretty common. However, nutritionist and clinical dietician Anusha Rodrigues (@nextdoornutritionist) shared a video on Instagram explaining why intermittent fasting may not help you lose weight.
1. Skipping BreakfastWhen we do intermittent fasting, we tend to skip breakfast as it falls under the 16-hour fasting time. However, it is a bad practice, as per the expert. Skipping breakfast and starting directly with your lunch can only do harm to your body. The expert says breakfast is the most important meal when it comes to recovery from PCOS as it helps you manage your blood sugar all through the day, fight insulin resistance and even curb your sugar cravings. So, skipping breakfast is a no-no when it comes to managing your weight on PCOS.
2. No Focus On Quality Of MealsThe basic rule of PCOS focuses on timings and fasting instead of the quality of meals. This makes you eat all kinds of foods without actually focusing on eating nutritious food. The expert says this is kind of a red flag since eating mindlessly just to break the fast could make you gain weight. If you want to manage your weight on PCOS, eat quality, nutritious food to nourish your body.
3. Sudden Insulin LoadIntermittent fasting makes you fast for a vast gap of time. This means you ll eat at least after 14 to 15 hours, as per your schedule. This huge gap can result in an insulin load, meaning a sudden insulin spike in your body. This could trigger your androgens and even worsen PCOS, as per the expert.
Can Fasting Once A Week Help Control Your Weight On PCOS?As per the expert, it may. While it depends from body to body, nutritionist Anusha suggests focusing more on the food you eat in the eating window than just maintaining fasting time. The food that you consume should suffice your nutritional requirements. Fasting should not be treated as a free pass to eat whatever you want during the eating window.
