We Have Orders : Akhilesh Yadav Shares Clip Of UP Cop, Revolver In Hand New Delhi:Amid a wave of allegations of electoral malpractices in the bypolls to nine Uttar Pradesh Assembly seats, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has shared a video in which a police officer can be seen charging at women with a revolver pointed at them. Mr Yadav has identified the cop as in-charge of Kakrouli police station in Muzaffarnagar district s Meerapur Assembly segment.
The SHO of Kakrouli police station in Meerapur must be suspended immediately because he is threatening voters with a revolver and stopping them from voting, he wrote in a post on X.
In the video he shared, a woman is heard telling the cop, You don t have the order to fire. The cop, revolver in hand, walks towards her shouting, we have the orders . The woman stands her ground and says, This is not right. It is not clear what prompted the cops action in the alley.

The victim, who was riding a motorcycle, was flung about one hundred meters away from the accident spot when the speeding BMW car knocked the two-wheeler.
Police said a hunt is on to trace out and arrest the driver of the BMW car who had abandoned the vehicle and fled immediately after the incident late on November 19 night.
Opinion: G20 Climate Declaration: It s Only Words...
The G20 Rio de Janeiro Leaders Declaration aspires to chart a bold course for addressing the climate crisis. While it emphasises sustainable, inclusive, and resilient growth, its lofty rhetoric is undermined by significant gaps, contradictions, and a failure to address systemic barriers. The declaration risks being another aspirational statement that falls short of driving meaningful global action.
The statement s language is filled with promises to “encourage”, “recognise”, and “cooperate”. However, it stops short of binding commitments or enforceable mechanisms. Reiterating the Paris Agreement goals without concrete actions or timelines does little to mitigate the worsening climate crisis. This vagueness perpetuates a familiar pattern in global climate diplomacy, where lofty ambitions remain unfulfilled.
Despite the call for a “whole-of-economy” change, the declaration lacks a clear framework for implementing its commitments. For instance, its pledge to triple renewable energy capacity globally by 2030 is not supported by actionable steps to address financing gaps or infrastructure challenges.
One of the Declaration s most glaring omissions is the absence of water as a central theme. The global hydrological cycle, critical to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), is treated as an afterthought, siloed under Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH). This ignores the role of water as a global common good, central to tackling hunger, poverty, and climate resilience. Addressing water issues demands an economy-wide transformation, not fragmented policies relegated to specific sectors.
Achieving the Paris Agreement s goals requires more than pledges; it demands a robust green industrial strategy. Yet, the declaration fails to recognise the importance of aligning industrial policies with sustainability goals. Trade frameworks, particularly through the World Trade Organization (WTO), need reform to enable equitable participation in green growth. Without systemic changes, developing nations will remain marginalised in the global energy transition.
Blame Where DueThe declaration s call for reforming the international financial system lacks substance, failing to address the stark realities faced by developing nations. In 2022 alone, these countries spent a record $443.5 billion servicing external public and publicly guaranteed debt, diverting essential resources away from critical sectors such as health, education, and environmental initiatives. For the 75 poorest nations eligible for the World Bank s International Development Association (IDA) financing, the situation is graver, with $88.9 billion paid in debt servicing that same year. This escalating burden underscores the systemic inequities of a financial system that leaves vulnerable countries with dwindling fiscal space to tackle pressing development and climate needs.
India Drops 2 Places, Still Among Top 10 Climate Performers: Report
India remained in the top 10 on a list of 63 countries assessed for efforts to combat climate change, despite dropping two spots compared to a year ago, thanks to its low per-capita emissions and rapid deployment of renewables, a report said on Wednesday.
The Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI 2025) -- published by think tanks Germanwatch, New Climate Institute, and Climate Action Network International -- tracks the progress of the world s largest emitters in terms of emissions, renewables, and climate policy.
The 63 countries, along with the European Union, assessed in the CCPI are responsible for 90 per cent of global emissions.

Cholesterol Management: 8 Seeds To Lower LDL Levels Naturally
Certain foods can naturally lower low-density lipoprotein (LDL), often referred to as bad cholesterol. These foods work by providing soluble fibre, healthy fats, and plant sterols, which help reduce cholesterol absorption in the gut and improve lipid metabolism. Soluble fibre from oats, beans, and fruits binds to cholesterol in the digestive system, aiding its excretion. Healthy fats in nuts and seeds, especially omega-3 fatty acids, improve HDL ( good cholesterol ) levels and reduce LDL. Including these foods in your diet, alongside a healthy lifestyle, can significantly benefit heart health. In this article, we share a list of seeds you can add to your diet to reduce LDL levels.
8 Seeds to lower LDL levels naturally1. FlaxseedsFlaxseeds are rich in alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), a type of omega-3 fatty acid, and soluble fibre. ALA helps reduce inflammation and lower LDL cholesterol by improving lipid profiles. Ground flaxseeds are easier to digest and can be added to smoothies, yogurt, or baked goods.
2. Chia seedsPacked with omega-3 fatty acids, fibre, and antioxidants, chia seeds help reduce LDL cholesterol and improve overall cardiovascular health. Their gel-like consistency when soaked aids in trapping cholesterol in the digestive system. Sprinkle chia seeds over cereal, salads, or desserts.
3. Sunflower seedsSunflower seeds contain phytosterols, compounds that compete with cholesterol for absorption in the digestive tract, reducing LDL levels. They are also rich in vitamin E, which prevents LDL cholesterol from oxidising, a key step in plaque formation. Enjoy them as a snack or in trail mixes.
4. Pumpkin seedsPumpkin seeds are high in magnesium and healthy fats, both of which help lower LDL cholesterol. Magnesium relaxes blood vessels, improving circulation and reducing cholesterol buildup. Add them to soups, granola, or baked goods.
5. Sesame seedsSesame seeds are a great source of lignans, compounds that help improve lipid metabolism. They also provide plant sterols and monounsaturated fats, which lower LDL cholesterol. Toasted sesame seeds can enhance the flavour of salads, stir-fries, or baked dishes.
6. Hemp seedsHemp seeds contain a balance of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, along with arginine, an amino acid that promotes heart health by reducing inflammation and lowering LDL. Blend them into smoothies or sprinkle over avocado toast for added crunch.
7. Poppy seedsPoppy seeds are a lesser-known source of healthy fats and plant sterols. These compounds not only lower LDL but also promote HDL levels. Use them in baking, salad dressings, or as a garnish for cooked vegetables.
8. Fenugreek seedsFenugreek seeds are rich in soluble fibre, which binds to cholesterol in the gut, preventing its absorption. They also help regulate blood sugar, indirectly supporting heart health. Soak the seeds overnight and consume them on an empty stomach or use them in curries.
Including these seeds in your daily diet can significantly help lower LDL levels while improving overall cardiovascular health. Pair them with a balanced diet and regular exercise for the best results.

Opinion: The Logistics Of Trump s Deportation Dream Are Not So Pretty
Donald Trump hit the ground running as President-elect, dedicating his first week to assembling his team. By the start of his second week, he announced on Truth Social his intention to declare a national emergency on border security. His plan includes suggestions that he might deploy the National Guard to execute a mass deportation of undocumented migrants—a bold move that underscores the priorities of his administration. Yet, specifics remain unclear on how this colossal undertaking will actually be managed.
‘Trumpworld , as many are calling it, promises to be a land purged of its estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants. America First policies will be this world s mantra. It will be a world where work begins to Make America Great Again (MAGA) and, of course, a world where a revival of hardline conservative values has long been awaited. The MAGA campaign, as envisioned by Trumpworld and its far-right champions, pledges to drive all undocumented immigrants out. It must concern Indians too, given that around 7,25,000 of the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants in the US are from India, according to the Pew Research Centre. It makes them the third-largest group after Mexico and El Salvador.
Indians In US: A Tale Of ExtremesIndian immigrants in the US are often celebrated for powering the success of Silicon Valley, but the quiet contributions of the thousands of undocumented Indians rarely get a mention—largely because they are living in the country illegally. They make up nearly 6% of the country s total undocumented migrants. Together, their population is 2.71 million-strong. The total number of both legal and illegal Indian immigrants is second only to Mexico (4.5 million). Now that Trump is back in the White House, uncertainty looms for many of these Indian immigrants, most of whom are young and settled in their jobs.
Can Bluster Turn Into Policy?Tom Homan will be in charge of America s borders following Trump s inauguration in January. A former police officer and ex-director of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), a federal agency responsible for enforcing immigration laws within the US, Homan is known for his hardline rhetoric. At the Republican National Convention this year, he didn t mince words as he warned undocumented immigrants: “You better start packing now.”
Besides Homan s appointment as the Border Czar, Trump has also nominated Stephen Miller as Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy. Both positions reinforce his campaign promise of being extremely tough on immigration and deporting all illegal immigrants. Homan will oversee, among other things, US borders and deportations, while Miller, known for his role in shaping Trump s immigration stance during his first term, will focus on implementing the administration s mass deportation promises. It has been announced that South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem will serve as Secretary of Homeland Security, coordinating with Homan and Miller on border security initiatives.

Designate Hostage-Killers As Kuki Terrorists , Start Ops: Manipur Cabinet
In an eight-point resolution released minutes before midnight, the state cabinet resolved to start mass operations against the Kuki militants responsible for the killing of six innocent women and children in Jiribam within seven days. The cabinet also sought to declare the Kuki militants responsible for the killing of the six innocent women and children as an unlawful organisation within seven days . If implemented, the Kuki militants responsible for taking hostage and killing them would be designated a terrorist group.
Six members of a family - all internally displaced people from the Meitei community - including an eight-month-old infant, a two-year-old boy and an eight-year-old girl, were killed in captivity after they were taken hostage by Kuki militants on November 11.
Three of the partially decomposed bodies including of the infant were found on Friday in a river in the district neighbouring Assam. The infant s body had considerably swelled up, making the corpse bag look larger than how the baby would have been when alive, a source in the Silchar hospital where the body was kept told NDTV. Three more bodies were found between Saturday and Monday. The autopsies have been done, but the complete reports are yet to be shared with the authorities, top government sources told NDTV.
At least two dozen suspected Kuki militants split into two groups before launching the attack in Jiribam s Borobekra on November 11, police sources had told NDTV. While one group took civilian hostages, the other vandalised and set fire to houses, sources said. Ten militants in the group that attacked a CRPF camp were shot dead, the police said in a statement. The Kuki tribes claim the 10 men were village volunteers , an allegation the police and other authorities have denied. The security forces have shared visuals of assault rifles and a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) which they say were brought by the militants. They have also shared visuals of a police SUV with numerous bullet holes.
The cabinet resolved to hand over three cases to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). These cases are the Jiribam terror attack on November 11 that ended with the kidnapping and execution of the civilian hostages, the death of a woman from the Hmar tribe on November 7 in Jiribam (in an attack by suspected Meitei militants), and the killing of a woman farmer from the Meitei community in the valley district Bishnupur on November 9.
On the imposition of the controversial Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act in six more police station areas, the resolution stated, Central government to review the imposition of AFSPA as per the order dated 14 November, 2024 with immediate effect. This law ensures no military personnel in an area where AFSPA is in force can be prosecuted without the Centre s permission. All National Democratic Alliance (NDA) MLAs in the state will consult the people and decide the course of action if the resolutions are not implemented within the specified period , the cabinet resolution stated.
The cabinet condemned the attacks on the houses of MLAs and ministers. The Meitei community had come out in massive protests alleging the government did not do enough to save the hostages. Such barbaric action of the miscreants, including the looting and destruction of properties, was strongly condemned by all the legislators present, the cabinet resolution stated. It said legal action will be taken against those involved in arson and vandalism, based on the findings of a high-powered committee.
Monday s resolution acknowledged a statement by the state cabinet on November 16, where it said the peace process between the Thadou and Hmar tribes and the Meitei community had just begun to yield dividends, with all sides reciprocating positively for return to normalcy. The Rongmei Naga tribe also expressed strong support for an early end to the crisis. The state cabinet had, however, said it was dismayed at the derailment of the [peace] process by certain vested groups...
The November 16 statement had said Kuki miscreants burnt several houses and attacked Borobekra police station in Jiribam district on October 19. High-Handed : Mumbai Press Club Flags Rahul Gandhi s Remark On Journalists
The Mumbai Press Club has criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his high-handed attitude towards working journalists and said his repeated targeting of journalists raises concerns about how his party might approach the press if it were to return to power .
The media body s strong remarks came after Mr Gandhi pointed to some reporters at an election rally in Maharashtra and called them slaves of their owners . It is not their fault. I like them. They have to work, draw salaries, fund their children s education, get food on the table, so they cannot do anything against their owners, he said.
Rahul Gandhi s high-handed attitude toward working journalists is deeply troubling and warrants serious concern.

The Mumbai Press Club said that the remarks were cloaked in concern for the plight of journalists, but his comments carried a tone of condescension . It added that the working conditions of journalists today are a result of contractualisation partly driven by the policies of past Congress governments.
Has Mr Gandhi ever reflected on the root causes of the challenges faced by working journalists in India and the state of journalism as a whole? The precarious conditions of journalists today stem largely from rampant contractualisation, driven in part by the neoliberal policies introduced by the Congress-led government in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Until then, journalists had fought for and secured significant rights, including unionization and better working conditions. Contractualisation, however, allowed monopoly media houses to sack journalists at will, weakening unions and leaving journalists vulnerable, it said in a post on X.
