22 Pictures in Indian Constitution

The Indian Constitution came into existence on 26th January 1950. The Indian Constitution 12 schedules, 395 articles in in 22 parts. The first page of each part contains a picture that portrays the history of India. There are 22 picture in the Indian Constitution.

Each page in the constitution of India was decorated by the artists from Shanti Niketan. The original constitution is hand-written, with each page uniquely decorated by artists from Kala Bhavan, Shanti Niketan including Beohar RamManohar Sinha, Nand Lal Bose.

The original text and art work of the Preamble was done by Beohar RamManohar Sinha. The task of writing 395 articles and 12 schedules was given to Calligraphist Prem Behari Naraian Raizada, who hand-wrote the original Constitution of India

The first part of the original indian constitution starts with a Indus Valley seal-mark, the Zebu bull seal of Harappa. The part 1 of the Indian Constitution, “The Union and its Territory”, has the humped bull image representing the historical times, the Indus Valley Civilization.
